How does the Biomass Power Plant work?
Eccleshall Biomass Logo The plant will operate for 8000 hours per year on a 24 hour basis
The plant uses 22,000 tonnes per year of fuel to generate 2MW of electricity (the demand equivalent to 2,000 average households)
Field of Miscanthus in August The plant generates electricity using steam turbine technology. It will contribute 16,000 mega watt hours of renewable energy direct to the network
Project partners Talbott’s who are Stafford-based and have 30 years experience in manufacturing energy systems and have over 3,000 working installations worldwide will provide the plant.

Traffic generated in delivering 52 tonnes per day of fuel will typically result in 8 vehicle movements daily - a less than 1% increase in traffic to the site
